Whilst summer weddings win in popularity in Greece, occasionally we have the pleasure of organising a special event in the heart of winter. There is always something extra cosy and warm about a wedding in December- that’s why we were extra happy when Effie and Harry approached us to organise their own special winter wedding in Thessaloniki. The brief was clear from the start- a grand party taking place in a medieval castle. Say no more! Our team of obsessed interior designers devoured the opportunity to transform the venue into a tasteful castle-like interior with a dramatic effect: Hand carved wood, candle extravaganza, winter flowers and more monastic tables than you can count- all came together to create one of the most magical winter wedding settings. To welcome our guests, a specially designed wooden construction made of oak trucks and lots of candles was set up. That’s where the guests enjoyed a warm welcome drink, before being led into the main venue, where the space was bursting with scents and flavours- including, among others, edible wedding favours, chocolate delights, a custom wish book, an ikebana photoshoot covered in winter foliage and flowers- even metal swords and custom decoration, all designed to wrap our guests in a whimsical, fairytale vibe. (disclaimer: nobody was hurt during this wedding) The starry sky was our inspiration behind the multi layered wedding cake… which not only looked amazing, but tasted like heaven- all 3 different flavours of it, since each tier was a different one. A magical evening, which transported us back to a time when wizards, knights and princesses existed...
